Polonaise. Dancing figures
The polonaise, as well as the most part of historical dances, developed of dancing figures. Dancers in a certain sequence did, going one behind one, figures which developed in dance. In a polonaise this philosophy of creation of historical dance is more brightly reflected.

Base figures полонезаОдна from ordinary dancing figures in a polonaise it is a promenade. This figure is executed in such a manner that all dancing couples move behind leading pair counter-clockwise. The column – this figure is called a column as after its performance all dancers stand in a row in the hall center, forming a column. Usually, after a column there is the following figure a corridor. Pairs in turn meet and on a corridor go to the hall end. At the end of a hall pair one for another disperse. One pair goes on is left, the following pair on the right.

Cross-piece and solo I will give the Cross-piece. This figure of begins that pairs stand the friend opposite to the friend in columns. After that they start to move towards. Meeting, pairs pass one column through another. Ending the figure performance, dancing unite and continue movement. Solo I will give. This dancing figure becomes in 8 steps. Initial position of the dancing: pairs stand in two strips opposite to each other. After that ladies start to move to other partner who costs with the lady opposite to it. Movement proceeds until two girls do not meet in common. Then reach to standing opposite to the gentleman and bypass it counter-clockwise. Further the lady precisely also comes back to own partner.

One more figure of historical dance to us is known long ago. It is called round of the lady. It is one of the most simply executed figures of a polonaise. The man becomes on a knee and raises a hand. The lady takes it for the lifted hand and bypasses it four times counter-clockwise.
